Reflexology for Infertility
According to the Human Fertilisation & Embriology Authority 1 in 7 couples have difficulty conceiving.
If you have been trying to conceive for more than a year without success it is important that you visit you GP for tests to rule out any physical barriers to conception such as blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease or ovulations disorders. For women age may also be a contributing factor as fertility decreases after the age of 35. Infertility in men may be caused by: damage to the tubes carrying sperm, low sperm count or quality.
Some couples having been thoroughly tested receive a diagnosis of unexplained infertitlity. Living with infertility but not knowing the cause must place a huge strain on you, leading to an increase in stress levels, which inturn can further reduce your chances of conceiving.
Reflexology, whilst not a cure for infertility, is well known for creating a deep sense of relaxation, thereby helping to reduce your stress levels. Reflexology also helps to re-balance any hormonal irregularities which can inhibit ovulation. By increasing circulation, reflexology helps to provide a supply of fresh nutrients to the pelvic area, where they are most needed to help with conception.
I recommend that both you and your partner are treated for a period of 5 days around the time of ovulation.
